A Plus A Gallery is delighted to announce the opening of no[w]here, an exhibition curated by the participants of the School for Curatorial Studies Venice, 2024. Opening at the end of summer, this exhibition invites artists from around the world to explore the theme of belonging, inspired by Pablo Neruda’s There’s No Forgetting.
.
The exhibition considers the history and evolution of our physical and emotional attachment to places by inviting artists to reflect on their relationship with memory and belonging. With curators coming from 14 different countries spanning 5 continents, the exhibition offers a constellation of new and often overlooked perspectives presented by artists from around the world. Forming the crux of the exhibition is the dialogue between installations, photographs, sculptures, videos, and paintings from international as well as local Venetian artists.
.
no[w]here deftly plays with the duality in its title — “nowhere“ and “now here“ —highlighting the ephemeral, fluid nature of belonging. These artworks traverse national borders and use emotions tied to the land as a starting point for exploring magical realism, formal experimentation, and political and social critique.
Inspired by Neruda’s reflections on land and memory, no[w]here captures the deep ties to our environments.
.
His verses evoke a longing for places and people left behind, a sentiment echoed throughout the exhibition. no[w]here encourages visitors to contemplate their own sense of place within a broader material and spatial context, and to understand the intimate and collective histories that shape our sense of place.
Visitors are welcome to the A Plus A Gallery for the opening of no[w]here to experience the art and reflect on the intricate and multifaceted nature of our connection to place. Activities to complement the exhibition include a specially curated video screening, food-sharing events, and talks, all of which are open to the public. The exhibition is also accompanied by an extensive publication.

About the School for Curatorial Studies
The School for Curatorial Studies Venice was founded by Aurora Fonda and Sandro Pignotti in 2004 in Venice with the aim of creating an open laboratory for visual arts and all professions related to contemporary art. The Course addresses both the theoretical side and the practical one – with an experimental approach, culminating in a final event organized by the participating students. The course is an ambitious and stimulating project, capable of opening up a vision of the complex world of contemporary art and offering a constructive contribution through the works carried out by the School and its students.  Since 2015 it has also activated the Summer school, which brings together participants from all over the world. www.corsocuratori.com
